My friend has been struggling financially lately. She lost her job. A while back she asked to borrow some money. I said, yes of course. She later texted never mind but thank you and that she really appreciated it. She didn't know I was just planning on giving it to her.

I had planned on doing it before she asked but never got around to it and she found another job so I figured I would just leave it alone. Anyway fast forward about 1 month, she lost her job again. She asked if I was willing to buy her food stamps off of her. I asked "how about you meal prep for me and I'll pay you?" It's something that would really help me and I know she needs the cash. She didn't reply to my text anymore and I know she read it. So now I'm wondering, was that a mean thing to do? Should I have just offered her some money like I had planned?
