why is everyone getting induced before they hit 40 weeks?

i’m not trying to be judgmental or anything but i’m just curious, i just turned 38 weeks and planned on reaching 40 weeks because that’s full term? i’m literally seeing everyone getting induced at 37 weeks, isn’t the baby supposed to stay in as long as possible... i know some people have complications and have no choice, i’m talking about the people who purposely get induced... why?...

No doctor induces at 37 weeks unless medically necessary. Not sure where you're getting/seeing this info from.

maybe a personal reason? maybe something is medically wrong? possibly preclampsia? I honestly have no idea and this comment isn't meant to be rude. I was gonna get induced at 39 weeks, her due date, because I was in excruciating pain due to where she was laying. but I ended up going to 40wks5dys. and I was super miserable.

I’ve never been induced I always have my babies at 38 weeks I feel if I went to 40 weeks my baby would be too big maybe that’s why. Idk 😐

My doctor won’t even do a sweep before 40 weeks forget induce! I was 39+4 my last appointment and I still have to wait until 40+4 for a sweep 🙄😩

Because some women really struggle in that last month. i have 3 and i understand it. i have never been able to carry mine past 36 weeks, my poor little body could not handle it. all 3 came out almost 8lbs and healthy. try not to judge. i chose not to get epidurals and I dont ever judge or question the women that do. if you do research it isnt always good for babies/labor but women do it for their comfort anyways. pregnancy is rough. if your doctor will induce.....good for you!

I've had 3 babies at 38 weeks. 1 naturally, 2 induced due to high blood pressure. I know doctor only induces for medical reasons or extreme personal reason... For instance he induced a patient because the baby's father was dying and wouldn't make it to the due date. I don't know where people keep seeing these supposed elected inductions and elected C-section, but I've never seen or heard of either being done just because Mom or doctor wanted to do it (except for people complaining that it shouldn't be done.)

I've only seen them for medically needed reasons. I have anti e antibodies and my doctor told me if it gets to the point where it becomes life threatening, if I'm at least 37 weeks they'll induce me.
