Epidurals: Side Effects? What happened when you got one?

So I hear all sorts of different scenarios for Epidural...did it work for you? If it didn't ...why? do you take pain meds normally ..etc...also how long till it wore off...did you have tremors? a headache? I hear some women have migraines years after epidural...have you heard of anyone being paralyzed? Give me details ladies I want to hear your story

Sometimes people blame the epidural for things that are actually just part of childbirth. Like lower back pain can be caused by baby injuring your tailbone during delivery, or your spine realigning incorrectly after birth. I had no side effects.

My entire face was itching but I couldn't scratch it because I was strapped to the bed because I was getting a csection. so I asked the nurse to lift my oxygen mask and get a tissue and rub my face. surprisingly she did it

when I got one the only side effect (besides being pain free) was my skin itched. like really bad, they gave me a wet washcloth to gently touch my face with, but nothing worked. by the end if it I had completely rubbed my face raw and was bleeding lol. getting the epidural was totally worth it though. like you have to get a catheter put in right after but honestly I didnt feel it either haha.

I have had several epidurals and lumbar punctures (just like an epidural except no meds go in). 
My epidurals worked great and I even have a brain tumor and shunts that would complicate the epidural causing it to not work. But like I said mine worked great. Both sides got numb. 
Tips: if only one side gets numb or one side gets more numb than the other tell your nurse. She can roll you to certain sides to help the side that didn’t numb as well become more numb. 
Tips: also if your not getting the pain relief you desired tell your nurse. They can have your epidural increased. But you also get a button that you can push every 15 minutes for a “boost” but really. Be Vocal with your nurse. They are there to help you. 
After your epidural is removed try to stay put for a bit (kind of have to bc you are numb but really. Sit still). You need to let a blood clot form over the puncture site inside your spinal column to avoid a spinal migraine. This is a small leak from the clot not forming. If you get a headache that is positional (less painful laying flat and screaming headache sitting up) then it’s a spinal migraine and those require a blood patch. A blood patch is where they go back into your spine like they were doing an epidural but instead of injecting medication into your spine they inject fresh drawn blood that they collect from you at the time. It’s painless and works well if needed but it’s not common. 
The rate at which an epidural numbness wears off depends on the persons metabolism. Me personally I think it was like 1-2 hours till I had feeling back in my legs and was able to get up to pee. But I honestly am not certain bc I am so busy snuggling the new baby that I don’t watch the time.

Mine worked and I literally felt nothing, not even pressure when pushing like they say you will. I don’t remember exactly how long it took for me to be able to walk again, maybe 4 hours at the most. I don’t have any issues related to having the epidural. I’ll be getting it again this time if I’m able to.

I had it done twice. Lasted for about an hour each time before wearing off. I had the button to reload my meds and the doctor even tried reloading my meds but it didn't work so I made them do it a second time. Second one didn't work any better than the first :(  No long term side effects.

All I have had is every once and a great while I have a pain in the site where my epidural is in pregnant with my 3rd child and I plan on having it again.

I had an epidural for each of my 3 deliveries, and plan to with my 4th in a few weeks. 
No side effects, nothing bad at all.
