advice wanted for after labour??

hey ladies, so im being induced on tueday and im going to be FTM so is there any advice on postpartum and tips for healing and feeling better and anything you wish you got told for caring for your new baby 😁

I agree with everything in the previous post and would also suggest: 
1. Ask your nurse for an extra peri bottle. I recommend getting one for every bathroom in your home. 
2. Ask for extra hospital panties. 
3. Ask for extra pads. Regular pads aren't as effective. 
4. Get the donut. It's cheap so if you don't need it you won't miss the money but if you do need it it'll be the best money you spend that day. 
5. Get your pain med prescription filled before you go home or on your way home. 
6. You'll feel better before you've actually healed internally so just make a mental note to take it easy. 
7. Remember that healing is a process and it won't hurt forever. You will soon look and feel normal again. 
8. You might be constipated. Take a stool softener. Don't strain. And use your peribottle on your rectum if it gets stuck. Can't explain it but it works to relax the area and get the poop out. (My husband recommended this when I was screaming and crying trying to poop a poop that I couldn't hold in...literally felt like I was in labor again).  
9. Do something for yourself when friends/family come to visit. Let them hold your baby while you shower, use the restroom, take a nap, eat, etc.  
10. You will be very emotional...give your partner a heads up.

I was terrified of post partum recovery and did end up having a stage 2 tear but honestly it wasn’t as bad as I thought! Make sure to tell them to cut your stitches short, that was advice given to me from someone whose doctor didn’t and they suffered unnecessarily. Stay on top of the motrin and Tylenol they offer you and take it around the clock, don’t wait until you need it. Also dermoplast works great. Take stool softeners immediately following birth and I would continue them until after you are fully healed because it can be super painful to poo. It’s honestly not too bad, the first day was by far the worst of it and then by day 2 I was up and walking around without problems or pain.

I echo what everyone else says about the peri bottle and witch hazel spray. The peri bottle the hospital gave me were hard to use so I recommend buying the NoseFrida Fridet Momwasher. Its a spray bottle but points upwards so much easier when washing the vaginal, etc area. Also recommend the medela nipple cream since my nipples were really sore the first few days of breastfeeding. The hospital also gave me dermablast or dermaplast (not sure what the actual name is) which you spray on your pad to make things feel better down there. I'd buy a bottle (found mine on Amazon - blue and silver bottle) bc I went thru the first bottle quickly. 
And do you have a boppy newborn lounger? Not part of the recovery process but my son is 2 weeks old and spends so much time in that thing napping - it's easy to move and I don't know what we would do without it!

Yes! Get witch hazel spray for down there after giving birth! Spray it on your bottom after using the perinatal bottle to rinse. Take lots of ice packs from the hospital and use them often. A donut pillow can help a lot too when you sit down. Take it easy and let people help you! I wish I’d asked for more help after having my daughter 4 months ago.

was also a FTM to be induced, I skipped the whole huge pad thing and just got adult diapers 😂 honestly though I wore them just till a normal pad could contain my PP bleeding. felt a lot better than wearing the huge pad that feels like a diaper anyway. wore them for 3 days and then regular heavy flow pads did the trick from then on. currently 2 weeks pp and the bleeding has slowed right down. that being said I didn't need stitches...
