My labor story 👶🏼
March 14th I had to say "See you later" to my husband when he left for his 7 month deployment. 2 hours before he left I had a few contractions and i thought baby Mason would come and be able to meet his daddy, but the little stinker just played tricks on us.
March 18th, 2013- 39 weeks 2 days, I woke up in the middle of the night and was sweating profusely. I went to the bathroom and then walked downstairs to turn the AC on. As I was standing there I felt liquid start to run down my legs. I got so mad because I thought I was peeling myself, even though I had just gone. Then I realized was what probably happening. I smelled it and knew my water broke. I went back upstairs as fast as I could to the bathroom and sat on the toilet. I called my friend and told her it was time to go. (I tested positive for Group B Strep so I had to be put on antibiotics once my water broke). It was 2:08 am. I messaged my husband on Facebook letting him know my water broke and I was on my way to the hoapital.
I was admitted at 3:10 am. Still haven't heard from my husband. My friend got ahold of her husband around 5am who was deployed with mine and he said he would get the word out. He called back and said he told 6 people who all went running around like crazy to get the word to my husband. Finally, 5 hours later, he called me. Panicking, because he thought he missed it.
By noon I still wasn't having contractions. Mason just didn't want to rush it! I was still only dilated to a 4 and I was at a 3 when I was admitted. They put this funny silicone ballon in me that would inflate with water. Once it got to its biggest size I would be at about a 6 or a 7 and contractions hopefully would start. They didn't. They checked me again and realized my body built up another bag of water! So they popped it for me.
They gave me pitocin and a tiny little pill that would help jump start contractions. They still didn't start for another couple hours. It was about 6 pm when I started feeling contractions. At about 7:30pm I got my epidural. 9pm they told me I was fully dilated. I got my husband on Skype so he could watch the birth of his son. 9:15pm and it was time to push. 10:05pm my beautiful baby boy was born. 7lbs 2oz, 19.5 inches long. He was absolutely perfect.
My husband met him when he was almost 7 months old. ❤️
