Puppy and newborn?

I'm due in march , and we are getting an 8w old puppy today (me my mom and stepdad) a lot of people are telling me not to... why not? Do y'all see a problem with it? I already have a dog she's a German shepherd and hound and the new puppy is a lab / retriever.

I’m pretty sure it’s just the fact that puppies take around 6-12 months to train, so it might be kind of hard to balance a puppy and baby. Puppies are very energetic & he could unintentionally hurt your baby.

Just know that you could be in for a lot more than you expect. Keep EVERYTHING out of reach ALL the time, because they chew and destroy. Be prepared to put up baby gates all over the house to keep the puppy out of areas you don't want pooped on, peed on, chewed up, and completely dismantled. Be prepared to know how to train the puppy even if the puppy isn't yours, because everyone in the household needs to be on the same page regarding training and setting boundaries. Sometimes training attempts are unsuccessful, and then the puppies are 100 times harder to deal with when they get big, knocking down the baby gates, knocking over the kitchen trash can, climbing up on tables to eat stuff, and running to the window at 50 miles an hour to howl (or SCREAM) every single time someone walks by outside. Other dogs in the house who are normally calm & well-behaved can get all wound up and join in on the chaos. It can be absolute nightmare ALL the time. I know not all puppies are this bad, but these were my experiences when my mom got a beagle puppy because she thought it would be fun.

If your mom will be in charge of caring for the puppy it's probably fine. Just make sure to teach no jumping right away because puppies tend to get excited and jump, you don't want it jumping on the baby by mistake.

If your up for the challenge go for it. I’d rather eat fire though then take care of a newborn and a puppy lol I have a hard enough time with my 10 year old dog and two cats.
