Weaning..... When is the best time to start?

My little boy suffers with reflux and doctors have said I can start weaning once his 6 months and it might help him but I’m thinking of starting earlier! Any advice from you mommy’s out there? X

Weaning off breastmilk ?? To solve reflux ? 
That doesn’t make any sense....?
The solution to a milk allergy, if that’s what he has, would be for you to go off milk and keep breastfeeding.  (Or to go off whatever the allergenic food is).
Babies are NEVER allergic to mothers milk itself.  In fact, mothers milk helps them be healthier in all kinds of important ways.
If your doctor is telling you to wean your baby at six months from breastmilk because he’s “allergic to it”, please consider getting a second opinion first!
That is really bad advice.
Unless you are talking about weaning off formula - which babies can and do sometimes have sensitivities to.

Weaning is a deeply personal thing and you ultimately have to do what’s best for you and your baby and y’all’s individual situation. My daughter also has terrible reflux and we are just taking it day by day now. I would love to continue nursing but when her flares up she’ll bite down and arch and rip my nipple and it takes a good week to heal after an episode. I just can’t deal with the pain much longer. I’m trying to hold out through flu season at the very least though, for her protection!

I've never heard of weaning that early without replacing with formula. I have 3 kids and my daughter weaned herself at 9 months and she refused formula, her dr wasn't so happy about it.
