How much student debt did you have out of college?

I’m worried about taking out too much student debt to go to my dream school for the next three years when I could go to a school where I could probably get out debt free, but I didn’t enjoy my first year there at all. I think I’ll have to take out 60k-80k in debt and I’m wondering if this is too much to come back from?

Do not take out more than you will make in your first year salary of your projected career path. 60-80K is an incredibly high number. I went to an expensive school (40K a year) but I got grants and scholarships like crazy so I ended up with 13K of loans in the end. I would say 4 years at your dream school isn’t worth being in debt the rest of your life.

I have zero in debt but I have law school soon so we’ll see if it stays at zero. Honestly I’d stick with the debtless school. Why burden yourself with so much debt (especially since if you live in the US and you file for bankruptcy it stays and you still have to pay it) at such a young age?

For the field you want to go into what is the starting annual salary? I wouldn’t take out more in student loans than that. Would it be possible to work part-time through school and pay some expenses as you go?

when I graduated with associate degree in nursing I was $25.000 with my masters it's only $10.000
