Just a sweet girl?!

I met a guy two months ago and we saw each other yesterday, we had a very good time we even had sex.

It is very recent and we are still discovering each other and developing our relationship that is not clear yet. But when we were talking today he told me:

« You are a sweet girl »

I was like what??!! Just a sweet girl?

Actually I’m french and he is American, it’s the first time I have a relationship with an American guy. So I don’t know what does that mean maybe it’s a difference of culture but for me, being just a sweet girl is Not okay and it’s a bad sign. Maybe it means that he didn’t like me much?!

I don’t know if I’m being paranoid or worrying about useless details but I want your opinion.

Is it a good sign when a guy says « you’re a sweet girl? » but I feel like there’s a -but-hidden after that sentence.
