Should our morals shape our laws?
After reading through comments on the topic about the man who was living in the US for 30 years and was recently deported, I wondered how many people believe that morals should dictate laws.
A lot of the comments I saw defending the deportation was that the law is the law and because he broke the law he should be deported. I saw a lot of "it sucks, but that's the law". But in this case, I believe this decision was wrong. And think that we should not be complacent with laws that go against our morals.
As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Said "One has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws."
In general, what are your thoughts about following the law simply because it is the law?
