Proud Mama!
Several days ago I made a post that mentioned how I was/am concerned that my daughter would be at a disadvantage to her peers due to me not putting her in daycare. I had toured some daycares when she was between 8-10 months and noticed that they were teaching colors, and I felt an enormous amount of guilt because I hadn't been teaching my daughter anything of that sort.
I also had mentioned how starting a little over a month ago, I would ask her to hand me a ____ (blue/green/red) block/ball, and she would hand the right one to me. Not every time, but pretty consistent with those colors.
Well, this morning my husband and I were standing in the kitchen. I had my daughter on my hip and he was eating his cereal. Out of the blue, my daughter starts pointing near our kitchen sink and says "boo", my husband and I stare at each other quizzingly and I was like "that is a new sound. I wonder what she is trying to say". So I walk over to where she was pointing and there were her 4 play cups that I had washed the night before, all different colors. She then picks up the blue cup and says " boo/bue" again.
I was shocked! She identified the correct color, completely unprompted!! I am so very proud of her! It also took away a lot of the guilt as well.
Sorry, this post is so random, I am just so excited (over such a little thing, I know) and so proud. Watching her mind grow and learn is one of the best parts of thus motherhood thing so far!
