Exercise vs Cramps

I have noticed almost like a battle going on in me between menstrual cramps and exercise. Exercise consistently, especially abdominal exercises makes periods painless. But inevitably it gets boring after some time and I stop. This causes the cramps to have a comeback which causes me to start exercising again and this cycle continues.

But if I start exercising at x days in my menstrual cycle and I get bad cramps be it ovarian cysts or menstrual, should I power through knowing that my muscles are fine or should I stop exercising until my period ends?
