Keeping to a pumping schedule??

Hey everyone! I’m a FTM and 3 weeks pp. I’ve decided to exclusively pump after dealing with latching issues with my little peanut. I’m wondering how you guys stick to a pumping schedule when dealing with a newborn who has a random schedule all of her own. When I can feel my boobs starting to fill up, I know I need to pump but sometimes im dealing with a fussy baby who takes an hour or so to go down. I’m trying to build up my milk supply and I’m having issues sticking to a regiment. Any tips??? 😊

Well in the beginning you should be pumping 8 times a day minimum, so I just timed it right after feedings which was 2-3 hours.  He was always happiest right after eating so it worked out great to stick him in boppy or swing right next to me while I pump.

Set alarms 30 minutes ahead of when you need to pump. That way you give yourself a little wiggle room. I also pump earlier if I know my babies (twins) are going to wake up around the time I need to pump next - I'd rather pump earlier than later.
The app Pump Log is AMAZING and helps keep track of how long it's been between pumping, and reminds you when it's time to pump again. It also keeps track of your output and can help you spot trends related to how often you pump. Can't recommend it enough!

I would just recommend the freemie cups. They have been a game changer this baby. I just pop them in my nursing bra and can pump while holding and burping and bottle feeding my newborn.

Following!  I’m almost 6wpp and having the same issues. Just had to pump at a terrible angle to hold the baby in my lap since he just fell asleep and I’m already overdue (and this week he started fighting the naps).

I’m definitely not pumping enough if it’s supposed to be every 2-3 hours! 😢 it’s so hard when the little one has a schedule all of her own. I bought a manual pump to go along with my electric pumping as well now and that seems to help. When I don’t have time to sit down and pump with my electric one, I hold her in one arm and pump one breast on the other side.
I’ve just downloaded Pump Log and going to seem if that helps me stay on track 🤞🏻

To keep up your supply you need to pump every two hours during the day and every three at night. Do you have a pumping bra so you can pump hands free?
