Thoughts on the first trimester Harmony test?

I really loved the peace of mind. Just knowing that there is little to know risk of a genetic problem for my baby was a huge relief. If something had been a risk, then I would have had time to make important decisions or arrangements if needed. Knowing the gender was a really nice bonus too so I had more time prepare. However, my insurance covered the test 100%. If I had had to pay, I probably wouldn't have done it and just spent the money on baby things.

I had it done and it was not covered by my insurance. However, we only got a bill for 150$ as my insurance covered part of it. 
We did it bc of genetic abnormalities on my husbands side and it is more reliable then the first trimester screening - which we also did for the extra ultrasound. The gender in the nipt testing was a plus - but not the reason we opted for it. 
Also, if something was wrong we’d want to educate ourselves and plan the best we can.

We did the Panorama extended panel ($750 CAD) and paid out of pocket.   At 41, I felt the risks of genetic issues were too high for me to wait until the 12w ultrasound and then have to potentially wait longer to do invasive testing.   Thankfully our results came back with a low risk  assessment came and so I haven't had any real stress about my LOs health since before we got the results.

I think it’s worth it, gives you some peace of mind on genetic conditions. Did you check if your insurance will cover it (or some portion of the cost)? Ours covered most of the cost :)

if the clinic I went to hadnt switched to a differnet one i could of gotten the harmony test but this time around I would if had to pay more that 500 so i said no thank you.

I had mine today. Covered for free by insurance because of my age (35). 
I am a planner so I will be happy to have any information I can at this stage - however I’m not sure I would have paid out of pocket for it. There is other testing available at 12 and 16 weeks. 
It’s worth mentioning with my first pregnancy, they found 3 soft markers for downs on my 20 week anatomy scan. Because I had done earlier blood testing (which was “very negative”), I was able to be much more calm about the whole thing and not worry too much while they did additional ultrasounds. My daughter was born perfectly healthy.

we chose not to. we know that no matter what happens we will love the baby and we will figure it out. I also know that if something did come up, my anxiety would go thru the roof which would make it even worse on the baby.

i had it but it was covered by my insurance...if you just curious about the gender theres a cheaper way if you want to know if there is any anomaly with the baby then its worth the money!
