How long is a c section stay?

My doctor recently told me I would stay for only 3 days! Holy hell that's how long I stayed with my vaginal births. Is this the normal protocol now?? My last C section they sent me home around 3 days as well, & I was definitely not ready! I ended up hurting myself as I didn't have the help I needed at home. I was recently told by a few different friends that have also had c sections that I should be allowed 5 days, & that they all stayed 5 days. One girl told me that legally and by law I can stay up to 5 days but you have to ask or tell them that you want to. Does anyone know if there's any truth to this??? Who do l ask or say something to? My OB doctor is a grumpy stubborn old man & I'm afraid hes gonna say no and send me home on day 3 like last time. I'm in California if that helps at all, & again I won't have help when I get home & also have a 2 year old at home so I would like to stay the max allowed so I can heal and have help as much as possible before being sent home. Anyone know the laws on this or have any help or advice?
