I miscarried a week ago. The placenta and sac along with other fetal tissues were expelled. But I'm wondering if its complete. So my question: if it was incomplete, would it still show positive on pregnancy test?

I’m 2 weeks post d&c; and I’m still showing positive pregnancy. I’ve been told could be up to 4-6 weeks before hormones are back to 0

I don't know about on a pregnancy test, but after my MC I had to go in once a week for a blood draw to make sure my hcg dropped back down to around 0

After I had an abortion I tested positive for up to a month after. As I understand, when a miscarriage is incomplete you have the risk of infection. But the body “knows” you are no longer pregnant; the reason why you keep testing positive has to do with pregnancy hormones still being present in your blood; independent if any tissue is left in your uterus. 
Also how far along you were makes a big difference: the longer you are, the more hormones, of course. 
The implantation of the embryo and later, the placenta, are responsible for stimulating the production of the human chorionic gonadotrophin hormone. Once is not there, you are not pregnant. 
Independent of any tissues left. 
You are probably seeing a positive because of the amount of hormones left in your system. It will take a while to get it down to zero. Meanwhile, your doctor should check for an incomplete miscarriage. Good luck.
