Is zika still a threat ?

Due to work reasons husband had to travel to the Dominican Republic for just one week he got back this morning and we had intercourse we just missed each other . Anyway im 17 weeks pregnant and just remembered the whole zika thing ! Should i talk to my doctor?

It is also sexually transmitted and they say if the male has Zika in their system you should not have intercourse until it is out of their system which can take around 6 months. Zika symptoms include fever, rash, joint pain and paint behind the eyes. Sometimes there could be no signs at all. Have him get tested and check with your doctor to test you too.

I had Zika while I was pregnant last year. I had barely started my second trimester, it was horrible! They did blood tests and an extra ultrasound a few weeks before her birth date to make sure she was growing okay. My sweet babe arrived healthy and unharmed by the disease. In my opinion the birth defect part of the disease is made up. Having Zika does suck major balls though especially when you are pregnant!
