Angry and Mortified

Shawna

I have been at my new job for about a month now. It is a totally new area for me as my degree is medical based, my experience is retail/customer service, and my job is banking related. Today I was called in by my boss to discuss what I had thought would be my 30 day review. Instead, I was sat down for complaints against me. My boss started by asking me if I had psoriasis. I was genuinely shocked she would ask me this, but told her that I didn't. She then asked if I had any medical conditions I would like to disclose. I got even more concerned and told her no. Then she told me that there were complaints against me about my hygiene. I sat there in mortified silence as she told me they were complaining about my hair smelling. I had never been called in for such a ludicrous thing before even when I would clearly be gross and sweaty. We discussed what sorts of products I use and I had to be told, at 22 years old, to be sure to wash my hair (which I already do). I almost left in tears, especially since this has come after other instances which I can only describe as bullying. I don't know what I can really do as I just got this job and it is my first full-time job. I really need this to pay off my student loans and so I can move out, but with things like this happening, I don't know what to do.
