Preemie Gas

My son was born at 33 weeks and will be 36 weeks (gestation) tomorrow. He has really bad gas pains that just make him miserable. I know its normal, especially since his digestive system isn’t mature yet. I’ve asked the pediatrician about drops and she said that drops shouldn’t be given to babies as small as him (he’s 5lbs almost 6lbs) and there’s not much to do. I’ve looked up some other tips online, but I was wondering if anyone else had a preemie with bad gas and if so, what did you do to ease it? And for anyone who’s had a preemie with bad gas, how long did it last?

Side note: I’m giving him my breast milk from a bottle and neosure formula for preemies and I use a slow flow nipple. I know breastfeeding and breast milk in general can help with gas, I’ve just had a hard time keeping up with pumping and producing enough milk, so he’s been getting mostly formula.
