Question! Induction- already dilated?...
Hello- hope you are all well! I have questions for any ladies out there who have been induced before, but were already dilated...
So I am 40 yo and 39 weeks/3 days pregnant with my 3rd child. My 10 yo came on her own at 39 weeks/1 day (14 hours labor) and my 6 yo came on his own at 37 weeks/3 days (9 hours labor)- vaginal delivery for both. My OB/Gyn has scheduled me to be induced this Friday, 01/26. I’m being induced due to my age and a congenital heart condition I have (my OB/Gyn and High Risk Specialist do not want me to go past the 40 week mark).
To date, my baby girl has been head down since 33 weeks. I have been 3cm dilated and 50% effaced for 4 weeks now. I’ve also had my membranes stripped twice (last week and this week) with no results other than my usual Braxton Hicks and cramping. Baby’s head is sitting low on my cervix, but not fully engaged in the birth canal as of yet.
Being induced will be a new experience for me. I’ve read different information about the process and other women’s stories... Has anyone else been a similar situation and have been induced? I’m interested in knowing what others have experienced and how long the process ended up taking for them. My OB/Gyn said that since it’s my 3rd delivery, I’m dilated/effaced already, and have been showing pre-labor symptoms for weeks now, the induction process should be better compared to a FTM with 0 dilation/0 effacement.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read and answer!... 😁
