Giving the UID a second shot

Sabrina

I had the IUD for 6 months at the end of 2016, and it was okay for the most part, but every now and again I would have this really weird hormonal smell, like probably once every couple of weeks for a few days at a time. I talked to a couple people and did a bit of research and found out it was most likely related to the Mirena, so I got it removed and after a couple months I was totally back to normal (that and I think it was moved during sex with the guy I was dating for a short time, so I was a little uncomfortable). I love the idea of the Mirena IUD and would like to give it another shot, so I’m wondering if anyone else has had issues with it, tried it again and had success with it?

I like it MAINLY for the hormonal aspects, and the fact it stopped my periods because I have terrible periods (I’ve been hospitalized from my periods - no I do not have endometriosis), and it helped with my weight staying consistent and my mood was stabilized, as compared to my mood on past bc. My doctor won’t prescribe me estrogen birth control because of my migraines and progestin-only birth control isn’t a good option because my periods are so irregular as is. Any advice is appreciated :)

Sidenote: I’m currently not using any birth control, and I honestly prefer it this way minus the periods, but since I’m in a relationship now and being sexually active again, it’s probably best I get back on something!
