Adderall...?

Question

I'm 11weeks and still taking my daily Adderall 30xr
My OB didn't seem too concerned so I haven't stopped
But other ppl have said not good....so far every check up has been great....
Just wondering if anyone else is taking Adderall or know anyone, positive or negative effects, etc...?

I don't know. I would specifically ask your OB about it and what the effects on the baby might be. I'm on medication thats addictive for baby but could also cause brain damage and miscarriage if I stop it (the doctors won't even consider taking me off it or allow me to stop) and there's a chance the baby will withdrawal enough to need weened off a different medicine. (My daughter did great and didn't withdrawal too severely and came home in a few days so hoping that happens again). Point being is there a chance the baby will withdrawal? Will they keep baby in NICU to monitor her for a few days? It might effect the baby's brain chemicals making her grumpy and cry more. These are all things to ask about and weigh carefully. The bottom line is even if you stay on it, the outcome probably won't be as bad as you think and the doctors know how to handle situations like that. Baby might stay in hospital for a few days longer but that's not all that bad and if you have a c section you can probably stay there also for a good 3 or 4 days. That's what I did. If you quit medication now just talk to both your OB and prescribing doc first and take into consideration the toll it will take on you. Don't write off your own well being just because your pregnant. It doesn't make you any less important.

If you are going to stop taking it talk to a doctor first. You need to be weened off. Definitely do not try and do it alone without a doctor. Can be dangerous.

Thats one thing i stopped. Its highly addictive. I even stop it when i was pregnant with my daughter.

I used to take adderall, and it is habit forming for some people, so I would be worried about the effects on baby, but also I would worry about proper weight gain and growth for your baby, as it is known to stunt growth in children. You have to weigh the possible risks against the benefits. If you can't function without it, then you may need to stay on it. I do better when I am on it, but I function okay without which is why I stopped taking it.
