Mi

I had an ultrasound scheduled on Tuesday at the hospital to check Steven’s growth. At the ultrasound they found that I had very low fluid in the sac. At that point I was also experiencing high blood pressure and high levels of protein in my urine. I was 36 weeks and 5 days at the time. They admitted me in to the hospital on an IV to see if they could increase the fluids. After 24+ hours of IV there was no change in fluid level. They had me on IV another day. By Wednesday night they told me that with all the issues that it would be safer to induce me the next day when I reached 37 weeks.

They consider 37 weeks basically full term. So Thursday I was transferred to labour and delivery where they started on Cervadil. The Cervadil was in until early Friday morning. Then they started me on another drug that helped me dilate me. Once that was done they hooked me up to Pitocin at around 1pm on Friday. By 3:30pm Friday the pain from the Pitocin was unbearable and asked for an epidural. Epidural went in at 4:00pm. Doctor also decided to break my water at that point. Immediate relief for about 10 minutes and then I had this sudden urge to push and extreme pain. I basically screamed my head off. Nurse rushed back in to room, checked me and was like “WE ARE HAVING A BABY”. Doctor rushed back in and by 4:24pm Steven was born.
