How to Feed and Pump?

Question

I'm so confused! Im 37 weeks and can't wait to breastfeed my little one when he gets here! But everyone keeps suggesting pump every two hours to build up a supply and I'm confused.. how do I pump every two hours and feed my baby from my breast? As I just being daft and missing something here? 
Do I feed my baby and then pump immediately after? 
Am i saving all of my extra milk? I'm so confused I just don't know the questions I'm trying to ask!

you don't need to pump. FEED every 2-3 hours MINIMUM, in other words, feed baby on demand, and if you are blessed with a good sleeper then pump if he doesn't wake for a feed. the very best way to build supply is to feed on demand. put baby to the breast as long and often as you need. modern moms rarely feed on demand, they sleep train and schedule and that can damage supply, in that case, or if you will be going back to work and want a frozen stash, you should pump. I breastfed twins till 26 months and never pumped once. you don't need to unless baby isn't feeding from the breast for some reason for more than 3 hours.

I only pumped every two hours because my son couldn’t latch. If your baby latches, then nurse every 2 hours. Once baby is asleep, you can wait 30 minutes to an hour and pump and that would be considered extra milk that you could freeze for later.

You can pump on the side baby isn't on. You don't necessarily have to switch baby on your boobs. Plus baby eating can cause letdown on your opposite side

I didn’t pump and only do now if I’m we’re going out and my mum has the baby (very rarely!!) feed your baby every 2-3 hours and at a young age or before a growth spurt your baby will cluster feed to establish your supply! Our bodies are amazingly smart things and will produce the amount of milk your baby needs. Unless you have trouble breast feeding I wouldn’t pump to establish supply

I pumped after nursing, either right away or within 30 minutes after, until my breasts were empty or slowed to not much coming out. I’m a working mama, so a freezer stash was a must. I froze the majority of it, or kept it fresh so my hubby could do the 2 am bottled if I was planning on being away for a bit.

if suggest waiting until around 4 weeks to start pumping, and there's no need for your hubby to feed baby in the early stages like that. in the beginning it's all about making sure your bfing relationship is good and established then introducing bottles and a pump to start a stash for work

When I needed to build a supply for the freezer, I pumped WHILE I fed from the breast. I put baby on one side and the pump on the other and when I needed to switch sides for baby, I just stopped pumping that session all together until my supply increased and then pumped after I fed.

Separately if you want to store extra, wait until 4 weeks for your supply to be established before you start pumping. Even squeezing in a pump session a day gets you enough milk to store or for occasions when you’re not around to feed baby. I’m on mat leave now and only pump twice a day (once to store) and once so hubby can feed. Timing wise, you really have to wait until baby is taking longer naps since it takes about an hour for your boobs to replenish after a pump session.

When I was trying to build my supply as I had to supplement with formula, I’d feed until he unlatched on his own then I would pump. I rarely got anything from pumping but it at least stimulated my breasts into tricking them into producing more. 
We’re on day 8 of strictly breast milk and he’s 5 weeks! I’m pumping and bottle feeding because I produce different amounts randomly and my boy is a screamer, especially if he isn’t full. So bottle feeding has been best for us as I know what he’s getting.
But definitely put baby on first until they let go then pump. Never pump then feed. Baby’s latch is more stimulating than a pump(so I’ve read).

What I’ve been doing is feeding my son on one boob and when he’s done I’ll wait for him to fall back asleep or be completely done and then pump the other boob. Both boobs get drained every 2-3 hours and I build a supply for when I go back to work.
