Long periods

I’ve had the Mirena IUD since August. I’ve had a pretty good experience with it other than the fact that I feel like I’m always on my period. I have periods that last like two weeks and then I’ll have a few days where I’m not bleeding and then I’ll start bleeding again. It’s never very heavy so I’m not concerned that I’m loosing too much blood, it’s just annoying and inconvenient. I got my iud checked last month and they said everything was good so I’m not sure why I’m experiencing such long periods. Has this happened to anyone and has it stopped at some point? I’m thinking about getting my iud removed if this continues
