Coconut oil for hair growth?

Have you ever used coconut oil to grow your hair?  If so how did you do it and did it work? Also if you know another way to grow your hair let me know. Thanks!

My family do this thing to kids with fair hair or grown men who go bald. Warm olive oil and fresh crushed garlic. Preferably organic Cuz u don't want any chemicals in there. I've tried and it works. Last summer my brother tried n it worked too. Mix it together and scrub it into the scalp every Friday night. Keep it on overnight and wash out in the am. Warning: u will smell like garlic for a day or two

As someone who studied such things for a year I will tell you there is no scientific way for your hair to grow a foot in a month or whatever. What is good is proper diet, water intake, multivitamins & biotin. Coconut oil is just that, an oil. It is not going to sink into the hair strand and help you at all, it will just coat it and make it feel softer.
