should I be worried?

my sweet boy was born March 27, 2017. He turned 10 months on Saturday. He is not making consonant sounds yet... like mama, gaga, baba, dada.. etc. Should I be worried??

I wouldn't worry about it to much. My oldest son hardly ever "talked" until he was about 3 year old. He would babble a lot but never true words. He is now 5 and is doing 2nd grade homework from school. However, our youngest is almost 11 months old and says "that", "dada", "momma", "dog", " I do it" and my very favorite "I love you".                               Every child develops at their own pace and own way. My youngest isn't walking yet but some in this group are. If you are really concerned then ask your doctor about it. My advice would be to talk to him as much as possible. but don't talk to him in baby talk. talk to him like he knows what you are saying.

What did your pediatrician say at the 9 month appointment? I remembers ours asking that as part of the development checklist they go through.

My son is 9 1/2 months and overnight like 3 days ago he started chattering like he knew exactly what he was saying. Before that he occasionally says mama but now he’s like full blown babbling, says dada and he seems to be noticing words more and trying to actually make sounds. I wouldn’t worry too much. When playing with my son I’ll get his attentione, point to my mouth and slowly say a word and point at an object. Since I’ve been doing that more with different words he’s been trying to do different things. Just keep working with him, talk about your day, what you’re doing and why. I noticed I don’t talk a whole lot if it’s just me and him so ivebeen trying to talk more lol

My son doesn't say Mama yet but he does make D sounds and B sounds sometimes. He's going through a phase where he "speaks" using a string of grunts and growls, haha, I'm not worried. My daughter didn't say Mama until well after 14 months or so, maybe even later. She was actually a very late speaker and now is in gifted classes and honestly never stops talking. She's your very typical 9 year old.
