Isn’t feminism just standing for equal rights for men and women?? Why are so many people saying they’re not for that? What am I missing?

Do I believe in the social, political and economic equality of the sexes? Yes. Does that make me and anyone who also believes in those things a feminist? Yes. Whether you like the “word” or not, if you believe in equality of the sexes you agree with the foundation of the feminist movement.

Equality!!! None of this “I don’t believe woman are better then men” bull crap, what you just described IS feminism. If someone says woman are better then men they are not a feminist! No matter what they say is they think women are superior they are not feminists.

Equal opportunities yes, equal pay, all yes yes and yes. Protests like “free the nipple” or some useless things like that, they do nothing, absolutely not. I do enjoy gender roles and i do like to think of my husband as the “stronger” one in the marriage, where if something is broken, he will lift up the pieces. I do like to be taken care of and to be treated with politeness and respect. I do have very fundamental values of guys being a gentleman and a woman being a lady. However according to a lot of people on this app, this is against feminism so i dont know. I do live happily and i do enjoy my family. I dont dwell on it too much

If feminism was actually what it stood for. I'd be all for it. Everyone should be equal. Sadly I see more man-bashing than anything and I'm just not with that

You have three options...feminist, misogynist, or misandrists. Whether you label yourself as any of them or not, your actions show you as one. I’d rather chose the positive one and be a feminist., specifically intersectional

I took a feminism class in college. Everyone is a feminist to a degree and most don’t realize it. They just hear the word feminist and they freak because of the stigma that the crazy people who go over the top give the word.

Let’s just put this out there for the women who think feminism is about a female dominated world. The term feminism came from Charles Fourier in 1837 in France to describe the social community he was in- male dominated. He used the word feminism to describe a moment towards GENDER EQUALITY. So even if the roles were reversed, it would still be called feminism. Going further, feminism supports other issues men face like not being believed when sexually assaulted, being single fathers, and just being allowed to have feelings. Another point of feminism people forget is that if a women wants to fit into her stereotypical gender role, THAT IS PERFECTLY FINE. Just as long it is not expected of her. It would go against the basic rules of feminism to tell her she cannot cook for her family or like the color pink. Feminism is not about putting men down, rather, it’s about making the genders equal. It does not segregate race or cultures and the transgender community is welcome. I am a proud supporter of the movement. I think it’s beautiful and will one day be a great story in our history books. I still love to cook, enjoy cleaning my house, my favorite color is pink and I like doing my hair and make up. Me and my best friend even have matching necklaces 😍😂

I am so confused about people trying to distance themselves from this word...like...come on. Everyone wants to be treated EQUALLY, at least I hope. No women should ever think oh he's a man he is better at me. I can't wrap my head around it...

When women who have attended college or have pursued careers bash feminism 😂😂😂😂 Your ass wouldn't have been allowed those opportunities without feminism. "But the extreme feminists ruin the word" just like Catholic priests raping kids give religion a bad name. There are bad eggs everywhere. But damn, I'll gladly stand up for equal rights and proudly call myself a feminist because I am educated and not terrified of what other less intelligent individuals may feel when they hear that word.
