Clomid vs ivf?

My name is Alisha and I am 31 yrs old I am married with one boy. He is 11...me and my husband have been TTC for almost 2 1/2 yrs with no luck...so I am going to a fertility specialist. I went through all of the test only to find out that my right ovarian tube is closed. She wants me to try taking clomid at least 3 times to see if it helps with fertility during ovulation to increase my odds of pregnancy and if it doesn't happen after 3 times then she wants to do ivf. So my question is has anybody taken it before and if so...am I waisting my money to try 3 times or should I just talk to her about trying ivf off the bat? Please any advice is greatly appreciated.
