pcos and metformin trying to conceive

my husband and i have been trying to conceive for almost a year. have my periods every 65 to 75 days. I have been on metformin since June and currently i am on 850mg of metformin 3 times a day. my doctor said to wait 3 more months until we do testing or a different method I'm not happy about waiting 3 more months I'll be 29 next month and my husband 34 in May. We want to conceive now and clearly I can't on my own. does anyone have any suggestions on what we can try? how to get it through the doctors head we don't want to play the 3 more month waiting game?
