Membrane stripped?

Question

I’m officially 39 weeks today! i have my appointment thursday and i’m hoping my dr will strip me. Have any of you had luck with getting your membrane stripped? How long did it take for you to go into labor? Do you not want to get stripped for a reason? Please explain. I love hearing everyone’s stories and opinions on things like this! Want to know if i should ask my doctor.. or if i should be hesitant. Thanks so much!

I had it done today at 39+1! Trying to avoid an induction, and I've never had it done before with my previous two pregnancies. I'm crampy and sore, and I'm not feeling like it's done anything because baby is not in position. I've been apologizing to my cervix all day, lol. I've read that if you're getting close it doesn't hurt at all, but for me it was painful. I was 2.5-3 cm dilated and 60% effaced with a posterior cervix and baby high in the birth canal. I think I'm just doomed to get induced.

I am personally planning on not having this done. Your provider can accidentally rupture your membranes and you can also introduce bacteria.

I had it done with my first girl at my 40 week and I went all the way until 41 +1. Didn’t work for me but I have heard some women have luck with it.

I had mine stripped at 40 weeks 1 day last pregnancy. I went into labor the next day by my water breaking. It didn’t hurt, but it wasn’t comfortable. I’m getting induced at 39 weeks this time for medical reasoning but I’m going to ask if my midwife will do it (if I’m dilated) at my next appointment to hopefully encourage my body to go into labor on it’s own.

I'm 39+3 today and had a sweep two days ago, other than cramping and spotting i still have no signs of labor. Going in for another today and hoping it'll make something happen! So ready to meet my little one😊

Had it last Friday doctor told me 1-2 days. Was 4 cm. 100% effaced and my water bag was bulging. Here I am 5 days later still pregnant and very disappointed. Another appointment today and am begging for an induction. Was avoiding it since I had it with my first but now I’m just done. 
Did lose my mucous plug and thought I had my bloody show.

I was 3cm and 50% effaced at my 38+5 check. No change at 39+4 so OB did a membrane sweep, but said 50/50 chance of it kick-starting labor. She also said she didn't think I would make it to my 40+4 appointment.
Well I'm still very much pregnant and haven't had any real contractions. I think my son just wants to prove her wrong as my appointment is in 9 hours and still no signs of him coming...
