Getting an IUD!! Advice?

I just had my consultation today, and it went awesome! I am getting my Mirena IUD put in on Wednesday, and I wanted to ask if anyone here has any advice, whether it’s about what your experience was getting your IUD, what I should expect for pain, and what sex will be like after (and if I should wait a few days afterwards) any advice is welcome!! :)

In my experience it hurt A LOT! My doctor said it would feel slightly discomforting and was she beyond WRONG! I guess it hurt a lot since I’ve never had kids and they say it’s easier when you’ve had kids. Anyways the days following I was in full pain. I felt terrible!! Idk why I just had really really bad cramps and my uterus hurt a lot. I was like this for about a week and then afterwards I was fine. I’ve had the Mirena for about 3 years now and it’s been great. I’ve had no problems with it and I feel a lot more secure about not getting pregnant. Also if it helps to know I don’t use condoms with my boyfriend and I haven’t gotten pregnant😊 Good luck!

Getting it inserted hurt but nothing unbearable. I’m 5 months in and I LOVE it. My periods gone and I don’t have any hormonal acne anymore. & sex is normal.

I have parguard and there was only some discomfort like your getting an exam and you might see some spotting after it's inserted but it goes away. I love mine. I have had it for 7 years. I got it after having my daughter in 2010. Sex is still normal.
