bf never compliments

My bf and I are so close & we've been dating for over 10 months & i tell him how handsome/sexy/hot or how smart & caring he is. I try really hard to compliment him all the time and make sure he knows what he means to me but he never does it for me. like all id like is a "Wow baby you look so beautiful" or whatever every now and again (not just when i hand it to him like "omg im really hot rn" & he says "yeah you are") should I bring it up to him or is that literally begging for a compliment? I just need reassurance sometimes.
