Anyone in Recovery? AA/NA? Please only respond if you’re in a program. Do/should the traditions apply to social media? For instance announcing what meeting you’re at and posting photos of yourself there? Another example is in the description.
Another example is publicly announcing your involvement of NA and “representing” the program on a public social media platform for all the world to see, then feasibly relapsing passing judgement on others and giving a bad impression. This opens the door to millions of people getting the wrong idea about NA based on one persons promotion and representation on social media. Tradition 10-12 clearly state how to keep the fellowship safe. As well as the other traditions. I feel social media and the way we use it in relation with NA directly contradicts what the traditions outline.
However when these traditions were formulated it was purely word of mouth and personal conversations with media radio and films. We did not have social media yet. Should we include social media in these traditions? Should we rethink the groups we have on social media and be more mindful of our posts?
What are your thoughts? Please remember principles before personalities and keep it tradition based, no personal bashing.
