Any others doing PGD?

Question

I’m new here and just wondering if anyone has been in my shoes before...as we don’t have fertility issues (at least that we know of at this point!) but still need to do 
IVF...as my husband and I just found out we are both carriers for a really devastating disease so we are opting to do 
IVF with PGD to make sure we don’t have a child with this disease. 
If there are any of you out there- did 
IVF work for you the first time since it wasn’t a fertility issue that led you down the IVF path? Just trying to learn more and since it’s more non-traditional I haven’t been able to find much! 
Also for any of you- I’m terrified of the hormones! How bad is it?

I just did my first ivf cycle and we also did PGD bc I had a miscarriage a couple of years ago and we felt better doing the genetic testing. We ended up with one normal embryo (out of 4 frozen blasts) and I transferred on 1/26. Just got my bfp yesterday! The shots are not bad actually. Personally, the worst part was the egg retrieval recovery, but they put you under anesthesia for that. If you have any questions, let me know!

I'm a few weeks behind Gigi! I feel like I almost know all the wonderful ladies here. We also did PGS (age 40, cancer survivor, 4 miscarriages) and will be transferring 1 embaby mid Feb. So far the hormones haven't been too extreme and most shots have been a tiny needle on the tummy. I am getting close to the "dreaded" progesterone oil shots. They are supposed to be painful shot to the bum. Still very excited and I have lots of faith. Here if you have any questions. We started in November but PGS takes a while so it feels like forever! Praying for all of us!

I’m 25, hubby is 33. I have PCOS, no male factory. We had been trying for almost 3 years, and seeing our RE for 1 year. After months of failed timed intercourse and 2 failed IUIs we decided to do IVF. We had 20 embryos retrieved, and only 3 made it after our PGS. After all of this time, we both wanted to make sure that our baby would have the best chance at survival, which is why we decided to do the testing. We transferred 2 beautiful embryos on 1/17 and i am currently 5 weeks pregnant!! I’m so happy that we made the decision to go ahead with IVF. The progesterone injections do suck, but it’s all worth it in the end! Good luck, I hope it all works out for you!❤️

I’m 29. Have blocked tubes so we had to do IVF. After all was said and done we had 12 embryos that were rated high enough to do genetic testing. If I’m going this far in the process I want to try and have the healthiest baby possible so that’s why we did the testing. Out of the 12, 5 had abnormalities so I’m definitely glad we did the testing. Had my first FET in December and got my BFP. Now I’m 11 weeks along. The worst part for me was the progesterone in oil shots. My last one was last night. Towards the end you are just so incredibly sore and they leave lumps in the tissue from the oil. I would massage with a heat pad every night but still didn’t seem to help. It’s all worth it of course, but I would say that’s the worst part. Good luck

I did ivf with pgs because we have 2 special needs children and didn't want another one. It worked on the 2nd fet. The first fet ended up with a blighted ovum which isn't uncommon.
