I have a family member that is a criminal. Do I still love them? Of course. Are they still my family and will I continue to treat them as family? Of course. But do I think they deserved to go to prison and to own up to what they did and who they hurt? Of course. 
Helping and still loving family that’s done something horrible doesn’t mean you have to ignore their crimes. They’ve never hurt me so I don’t really feel like I have a reason to forgive them. My parents who have been hurt by this person have forgiven because this family member is sick. But forgiveness also isn’t letting them off the hook. My parents were part of the reason this person went to jail. They still love them and visit them, but they still hold them accountable for their actions

If they change later, cool. But at that point they're clearly unstable, unreliable and too rash to be around me or my kids.

forgiveness isn't up to me it's up to the victim or the victims family and judgement is up to the court system not me. to be perfectly honest it would depend on which member of my family committed the crime as to if I would stand by then or not.
