10 weeks? Or only 8?!!

Ok ladies-I've been scratching my head about this...
​According to my LMP I am 10 weeks today. However I went in for my ultrasound at what I thought was 7+4, and they said I was 6+2 - the gestational age, giving me an EDD of 8th January 2016. All fine and dandy!
​I'm confused though: all the books and websites count weeks from 1st day of LMP, and say that the drs do too! So should I count myself as 10 weeks today, or 9 weeks on Friday? 
​I know it doesn't make much difference, but I want to keep up to date with by baby's week-by-week growth and to be able to say which week I am with certainty! HELP!! Lol!

I would go with the ultrasound dating it's more accurate than LMP since you don't really know when you ovulated.

Your dates will change a few times. At this stage in the game.... If the ultrasound tech moves the probe a mere millimetre it changes things by days. Don't worry about it. You'll get a more accurate guesstimate at your 12 and 20 week scan.

If I went by my LMP my due date would have in may but it's the 19th of June. I would go by ultrasound :)

Liz I'm where you are, this Saturday I will be 10
Weeks based on my LMP but after my first ultra sound it said I was 7 weeks 6 days, which means I should actually be about 11.5/12 weeks. But
The ultra sound tech told me I was normal at 6.6/7 weeks. I would go with your LMP until you're further along your pregnancy so the docs know for sure with a later ultra sound. That's what my doctor told me. Right now it's unfortunately too early to tell good luck !

Same thing happened to me but I actually dated 9 days ahead..  It sucked!

Argh! I just spoke to my dr about booking my next u/s, and she said that the 1st u/s said 6.2 weeks, so I should go by that. But then she worked from my EDD (8th Jan) and said I'll be 9 weeks on the 7th June, which is Sunday...but when I went for my 1st u/s, that was a Sunday, and I was 6weeks 2days then, so surely I must be 9 weeks on Friday...?!! 
​I explained about wanting to look at those wk by wk updates, where wk one is your period, week 3 is conception, but she said even for those I should go by u/s date as it is more accurate. I just don't understand! I always thought counting would be the easy bit!!!!!
