Cord Blood Banking??

Was wondering what people thought about cord blood banking. Did you do it? Did you not? Why? Which company? Thanks!

I chose to donate the cord blood but didn’t pay to bank it.

We’re going to delay cord clamping for 60-120 seconds post birth until the baby gets all her blood. We won’t/shouldn’t have any to donate.

We didn’t for our first and my mother threatened my life.  Both my parents are scientists and this is something they really recommend.  We are doing it with our second, thanks to my parents paying.  Our family history is filled with cancer, diabetes, etc. so maybe this can help our children one day.  I was reading how it is harder to match a biracial child with a cord blood donor and both my husband and I are biracial, making our children very mixed.  So this will make it easier on us should we need it in the future, we won’t have to hope there is a donor out there.
Cord Blood registry was marked as the favorite by baby center.  We are likely going to choose them.  The method we are doing will be the blood and tissue, which will be around 3k 😫
