Pregnant or disabled?

I might get a lot of hate over this, but I just realized if your pregnant you qualify for a disabled parking pass. In my opinion that is ridiculous... I’m sure there are instances where yes you might need it. But I know someone who is perfectly fine, and is actually smaller than what she should be according to her doctor yet she got approved for one too. I just think that’s taking away from someone who truly is disabled and needs to use the parking spot. I am pregnant myself and I would much rather give up a shorter walk for someone who truly needs it.

With a doctor's note practically anyone can get a placard. Pain and disability aren't always visible. Perhaps you should reserve your judgement.

I'm just gonna say this... I have never seen all the handicap parking spots filled.  and at 32 wks those spots sure look appealing sometimes

Some places have  an expecting mother parking spot. I feel more places should do this.

I would hope that if you really need it you will use it. If not park in a regular spot. I’m sure not everyone uses it just because they have it. I wouldn’t but wouldn’t mind having one just in case.

There are instances/complications in pregnancy that would make that perfectly reasonable.

With the ice and snow here lately, I’d be grateful for the placard. But she may need it for more than just pregnancy.

Most of the stores around me also have parking spots dedicated for women who are expecting. I personally choose not to park in them because exercise in pregnancy is important!

I agree. There are instances where pregnancy causes disabilities, but pregnancy in and of itself is NOT a disability and I hate seeing it treated that way for quite a few reasons.

I received a temporary disability placard (after some pushing with my doctor). I don’t get parking through my work. I work downtown in a large city, and my choices were to pay more than I could afford at a parking lot at least a mile away, attempt to park at a meter closer to my building for more than I could afford, or take public transportation for a decent price. I took public transportation. It caused me an extreme amount of anxiety. There are no seatbelts. If the shuttle was full I had to stand (no one offered me their seat) while the shuttle went on the freeway. One evening it was raining so the shuttle was late, and I had to stand for nearly 40 minutes waiting for it to arrive. 
All of these things are hard as it is, but with pregnancy in the mix it was beyond difficult. My doctor finally gave me one around 30 weeks and it’s only good to my due date. I use it to drive myself to work and feel much happier and safer. Do I use it to park up front at Target when I need to go shopping? No. I’m sure some people take advantage, but don’t judge everyone.
