So I'm pregnant with my rainbow baby and I was talking to a parent at my school (I'm an assistant director at a child care center) and she was telling me how I need a doula. I'm totally open and excited about the idea but she also told me that her doula cost $1300 which is just a big purchase right before having a baby. I was talking to another mom about it and she said I should look into getting a midwife because they are typically covered by your insurance like a doctor. She also told me that in order to be a doula (aside from classes and certifications) they have to be present for 3 births. She said there are probably women with not a ton of real life experience that would probably do it for free or for a lot cheaper. I'm wondering if anyone on here is either one of those women or knows where I could find someone!! I live in MA and I am planning to give birth at Winchester Hospital. anything helps!!
