Who Is forgoing ultrasounds?

I cant get it out of my head that they can cause damage. I know there are no studies proving this but we find out things a lot later like hello baby powder causes cancer?! anyway I would love to just say no but then there's this part of me that wants to see the baby. but is it worth it? argh! opinions?

You should absolutely get ultrasounds. They are not just about seeing the baby. Ultrasounds are an important diagnostic tool. Ultrasounds are used to make sure baby is measuring on schedule without complications. A family friend’s baby had a birth defect that caused the baby’s organs to develop outside of the baby. They were able to diagnose this with an ultrasound and be prepared to act immediately to give the baby the best opportunity for survival. Their baby girl is 4 now 😊
I don’t want to think about what might have happened if they had not known before they gave birth.

They aren’t necessary! If you’re uncomfortable with them, then forgo. Millions of women around the world have very healthy babies without all of these interventions.

You can’t be serious? Women advocating for a procedure that’s completely unnecessary in a healthy mother in a holistic group?! Ultrasounds are not safe. They cause the tissue to heat up and there are studies that the heat waves cause cell mutation! In a rapidly growing baby you don’t want cells mutating. No ultrasounds here and 2 perfectly healthy babies! Unless there’s a medical emergency ultrasounds should not be routinely done.

There are some studies that show the waves can heat up tissue and potentially do damage. We’re only doing the anatomy scan to make sure all organs are there and working.

NOT getting ultrasounds- at least like two-three throughout your pregnancy can actually cause more damage. If there's an issue that they can fix, it will be your fault that they didn't know. 
For example- baby not growing at the correct rate, cord around neck, twins, etc.

The standard Norwegian routine is only one anatomy scan, with one extra at 12 weeks if you're over 38. I'm comfortable with this number of scans because they are done for important diagnostic reasons. Any additional scans would only be done if a specific concern arose that called for in depth investigation.

I opted out of all ultrasounds with my first pregnancy. It wasn’t worth the risk to me.

I skipped ultrasounds during my 3rd pregnancy and had a healthy, natural birth, baby, and postpartum. She is 18 months now. :) I am halfway through my 4th pregnancy and we have only used a doppler twice. We intend to use a fetoscope for the remainder of the pregnancy and skip ultrasounds unless we encounter a problem.
