Did you let your dog sleep in the same room as your baby

Question

I’m debating on what to do about our dog. He’s always slept in my bedroom with me and he sleeps on my bed. When I found out I was pregnant we tried to train him to sleep on a dog bed downstairs but I felt bad and ended up giving In. 
I’m not worried about him attacking my baby or anything as he’s only a Jack Russell/ Chihuahua he just likes the bed. I think it’s more sleeping with dog hairs and waiting a clean space. What did other people do when a baby joined their life?  I’m defiantly not getting rid of him because I class him as part of my family.

No I didn’t and I’m glad because I have/had a chihuahua mix that acted fine and never bothered my son and then one day when my son was about 8 months the dog went after him for absolutely no reason.

I wouldn’t risk it to be honest. They are animals, I wouldn’t let a dog sleep in my baby’s room unless perhaps I was sleeping right next to the baby. I would continue trying to train.

Dog hair is going to be everywhere, no matter what. My dogs are blocked off from the living room and there’s still hair in there. And we continued to let our dogs be in bed when I had my son. But my son was in a bassinet next to the bed. I have 3 medium sized dogs to.

Our dog has a bed in our room. She’s never slept on our bed w us and we trained her from the get go to not go on our furniture. She’ll continue to sleep in our room once baby arrives. We’ve also added a dog bed to the nursery and introducing her to the room. She’s an 88lb Black lab and a pile of mush.

I would train the dog not to be in baby's sleeping area, especially if the dog would have access to snuggle up next to baby because of suffocation risk. I have animals but always keep them separated unless I'm right there.

we have 3 cats who crawl into bed with us at night, we started training them to sleep only at the foot of the bed by placing a blanket that is only theirs on It, I can remove the blanket when they're not around and the bed is fur-free and clean underneath :)

I have two dogs. A pit bull and a German shepherd. Both of my dogs sleep in bed with me along with my husband and my son since he was brought home from the hospital. They take naps together and these two dogs protect him like he is their own!

We have a trainer and she recommends that our dog not be allowed in the baby’s room at all and not sleep in our room while the baby does. Also, just because a dog is small, doesn’t mean damage can’t be done. The only breed of dog I’ve ever been bitten by is chihuahua and I volunteer at an animal shelter.

I stopped letting my dogs on my furniture when baby arrived. It took a little bit to train them, but they learned. I didn’t want to deal with the copious amounts of dog hair in my sheets (have a black lab) and I was nervous about them jumping up even if baby was laying on the bed. They have several beds through the house for their “doggie zones” and it has been a lifesaver.
