Taking a trip at 38 weeks pregnant?

My husband and I have reached an extreme low point in our marriage. I have betrayed him in a very deep way and I am now desperate to find a way to help us reconcile and rebuild the relationship. We are expecting our first child in just a few short weeks and I want to do everything I can to begin healing this brokenness before bringing a baby into the world. I have signed us up to go to the Family Life Weekend to Remember Marriage Conference, but the closest conference is 5 hours away and I will be 38 weeks pregnant during the conference.
I spoke to my doctor and he says that right now, at 36 weeks and 4 days, I am not dilated at all and am only 50% effaced. He does not think that I will deliver at 38 weeks, but also is not able to give me the OK to go due to liability issues. I haven’t had any complications and haven’t even felt any Braxton Hicks contractions.
Do you ladies think it is ok to go? Will the reward of a potential saved marriage out weigh the risk of having to drive home in a frenzy if I go into labor?
