Conceiving after an abortion

I was in the 8th week of my pregnancy when I had to terminate it because I had and really bizarre abdominal pains ..I had a surgical abortion even if it's not something I did not want i was told I had to because there was apparently no problem found but the pains where just out of this world even after being put in medication it was just too much to bare...and immediately after it i felt much better and relieved the pains where gone ...... but the thing Is it still possible to get pregnant after a surgical abortion? I really want a baby and so does my fiancée... has anyone ever had an abortion and still managed to get pregnant again? That's my greatest fear.. am waiting till I can heal to try for another one but I'm just scared that maybe the abortion could have affected my fertility. .please help
