Child Support/Visitation
I went to court last February to set up child support and visitation for my little girl. While receiving child support has been spotty, her bio dad has missed EVERY SINGLE VISIT - without giving me notice. (Of course, I began to expect it, but that’s important) In our support order it has a little disclaimer to the effect of “if he continually misses visitations and does not provide notice, the visitation schedule can be changed”
Okay, so I call the Office of the Attorney General this morning (they are the people who set it all up) and they said, “oh, no, we don’t do any modifications to the visitation. Just the child support.”
These are the people who put it in place. It makes NO sense to me that they wouldn’t have any authority to change it, if they have the authority to put it in place to begin with. The gentleman on the phone said I could hire an attorney myself if I wanted it changed. When I asked who enforced visitation schedules, he said attorneys do. I have never heard of an attorney having the same authorities as governing bodies.
I don’t have money lying around for an attorney. I guess there’s not really anything I can do.
I’m at my wits end.
