Need opinions!

So I'm graduating on Monday night and I knew that this day would come to that I have to tell my mom that I have been talking and hanging out with my friend Eric who's 25 I'm 19. I was planning on doing it Wednesday so all family is gone and go to orange Julius and get her one and go to her school since she's a teacher and one she gets off tell her that I want her to give him a chance and meet him and her approval that I can date him if that time comes. Is this a good idea to do it this way, I'm talking to her first before we tell my dad.
