Nervous about discharge

Sorry for all the tmi but I don't know if this is normal. I'm 10.2 and I've been having yellow discharge for about a week and half maybe two. It has a smell to it but it's not fishy. I called the doctor and she said to just watch it, but I'm so worried I may have an infection. It's not itchy or frothy which is all I've read about so I'm not sure if this or normal or not. I just happened to notice a change (although I don't think I had a lot of discharge before this). Can anyone please give me some advice? Is this or can it be normal? Should I insist on coming in for a check? I have an appointment on the 20th and I'm worried something could happen if I wait too long. Thank you.
