Lh surge

Hello, I'm new at this ovulation signs and all, so pardon my ignorance. Is it possible to ovulate without lh surge? I've been checking CM. It's ew. Testing for ovulation with Kroger store brand ovulation kit and no positive yet. Could somebody share experience with me? Should I expect lh surge in the next hours? Thanks !!!
