What could this be..

My bf is terrified , but he has a spot on his inner thigh, close to his testicals,.. Its red, with a darker middle, itches him, its smooth and thick, like if u poke it it feels like a knot, and he's had it for months and its starting to get bigger.
No health insurance, can't afford to go to doc rn... Any ideas???

It sounds like a boil, and unfortunately, I have them. Hot compresses work, but the best thing I ever used is called Icthamol. It's a salve that will draw it out and allow it to drain. My grandmother calls it black tar salve and she used it when she was younger. You probably won't find it on your drug store shelf, but you can talk to your regular pharmacist and it should be behind the counter without a prescription.

My fiance had something similar to this. It eventually came to a head like a pimple would and because we had no insurance at the time I was the one who opened it. Yes it was gross but it needed to be done because he was in pain. It went away an nwver came back. He had it for a little over 6 months an it just got bigger an bigger. We thought that maybe it was a spider bite but who knows. It could be an ingrown hair, which will itch, and have a dark center.

Sounds like a boyle. Take hot compresses to it several times a day. It will help drain it. And make sure up put an antibiotic cream on it to reduce the risk I f infection. I've had 2 boyles myself. They are very painful and they do itch. My doctor said once I get it to drain the pain will go away. And it did. It was about 7 years before I ever got another one and it was in a different place. It could be a boil which most of you seem to know it itches then hurts and it will fill with pus then it will have to be lanced/popped and made sure all the pus was out disinfected and if left with an open area pack with gauze

My boyfriend had something similar. He thinks it may have been an ingrown hair or a pimple. He eventually just took a needle and popped it. And it didnt came back.
