Baby shower for Second kid?

I’ve been invited to several “Sprinkles” if the baby is a different gender or there’s a large age gap. I’m fine with those 👍. They are low key and mostly about giving new clothes. 
I don’t think it’s appropriate to have a full shower for each of your kids, showers by definition are for gift giving.
If you want to have a celebration for the second baby, that’s fine but it can’t be about receiving gifts.

People say "every baby deserves to be celebrated" but I'm going to express a (likely unpopular) opinion here....really, showers are about giving the mom attention and giving gifts. I personally didn't have one after my 1st. I had a sip and see after the baby was born. It was focused on the baby, my toddler becoming a big brother etc not me and gifts. Many people brought a little gift, and I did make a small registry and only told people who asked, but I didn't open them at the event.

One baby shower one time for the first is personally how i see it. But i do know people who have one for all of there kids! So either way

I’m not there yet as I just had my first on December, but my thoughts are to do something small for my next to celebrate them but not a huge shower like I did this time. But I think it’s a personal decision and there is no right or wrong. Do what’s right for you!

Have a Sprinkle. It’s still a way to celebrate your sweet baby - every baby should be celebrated! I’ve hosted several. At a Sprinkle, there is no registration, gifts are not expected tho nice and it’s much less formal than a Shower. I just hosted one for my best friends 4th baby and we met at a restaurant for a nice ladies lunch, a few gifts of diapers/wipes or a cute outfit were brought and we had a nice time celebrating her and baby! Congratulations!

Would like to add another option, or if babies are far apart or if it’s the second for one parent and the first for the other parent. Like in my case, my son is 10 from a previous marriage. My current pregnancy is my husband’s first and obviously I’ll need just about everything like a FTM would, however we do plan on buying our own nursery furniture (unless my in-laws beat me to it lol). So I feel like this situation also warrants a baby shower.

I honestly think every baby deserves a baby shower! Especially if they aren’t the same sex or are far apart in age! My youngest is almost 5! And we’ve moved to a different state, I will definitely be having a baby shower for this baby!
